Payroll: Payment method caching and change notifications in open pay runs
Previously, if an employee’s payment method was updated while they were included in an open pay run, it could result in the employee entering an errored state once the run was finalized. This often required clients to void and reprocess the affected pay statement, causing delays and additional steps during payroll processing. Clients have asked for better visibility and control in these scenarios.
What’s new?
With this update, the system now detects when an employee’s payment method is changed while they are in an open pay run. Clients will see a clear in-line notification within the pay run alerting them to the change.
If they would like the current pay run to use the updated payment method, they can click “Update to latest” within the alert to apply the change. If they prefer to continue using the original payment method, they can simply ignore the message—no action is required.
This functionality does not approve or reject the underlying change, but allows clients to choose which version of the employee’s payment method is used for that specific pay run.
Access: Additional options for employee module access
Previously, clients could restrict access to Green Employee modules on an individual basis—but only when those modules were globally enabled. There was no way to selectively grant access to individual employees while keeping access disabled by default for everyone else. This limitation made it difficult for clients who needed more flexible control over which employees could use specific self-service features.
What’s new?
We’ve introduced new access control options for Green Employee modules to provide greater flexibility. Clients now have three configuration settings to choose from:
- Default On: New employees will have access by default; it can be turned off individually.
- Default Off: New employees will not have access by default; it can be turned on individually.
- Off: The module is fully disabled for all employees.
This enhancement is especially useful for staffing organizations that use other systems for onboarding or time entry, but want internal employees to take advantage of Green Employee features like document access, pay stubs, or HR updates.
With these new settings, clients can better tailor Green Employee access to meet the needs of different groups within their workforce. Learn more here
