Payroll: Add new Earning Categories
Background: Previously, only a small number of earning categories were offered in Greenshades. This limited reporting accuracy and made it difficult to distinguish between different types of earnings such as Sick time, bonuses, or commissions.
What’s new
We’ve introduced several new earning categories to provide more accurate earning classification across Payroll and downstream modules. New categories include Sick, Bonus, Severance, Commission, Mileage, Per Diem, On Call, and Stock Vesting.
These new categories follow existing earning behaviors while writing a more precise earning type. For example, Sick functions like Paid Time Off but is now correctly identified as Sick, improving reporting accuracy and reducing PTO misclassification.
Pay History: Add a "Split by" Option to Pay History Distribution Wizard
Background: Creating multiple pay history distribution batches previously required significant manual effort. Administrators often had to run the distribution wizard multiple times to generate separate files by department, location, or date, which was time-consuming and increased the risk of inconsistencies.
What’s new
We’ve added a new “Split by” option to the Pay History Distribution wizard that automatically divides a single batch into multiple files based on Department, Location, or Check Date.
When a Split by option is selected, the system first separates the batch using the chosen criteria and then applies existing page and file size limits to each resulting file. File names are automatically generated using the selected split value and the batch name, and existing Sort by selections are preserved within each split batch — making distribution faster, more consistent, and easier to manage.
Payroll: Create a setting to disable individual void options
Background: Some clients have shared that the number of available void and reversal options in Payroll can be confusing, which may lead to the wrong option being selected during processing. To help simplify the experience when needed, we’ve introduced new configuration options that allow specific void actions to be hidden.
What’s new
We’ve added new payroll configuration options that allow individual void actions — such as Void Remove, Void Reverse, and Void Reissue — to be disabled for a workspace. This can help streamline the user experience by showing only the options your team needs.
These settings are managed by Greenshades internally. If you would like to limit which void options appear in your Payroll experience, please contact Greenshades Support for assistance.
