Background: The previous Unemployment Taxes page used individual cards for each state and did not support dated effective SUTA rates. This made it difficult for clients to manage rate changes over time or handle recalculations that required historical rates.
What’s New?
We have redesigned the Unemployment Taxes page to improve usability and add support for effective-dated SUTA rates:
- Streamlined State Layout
- States are now displayed as line items instead of individual cards, making it easier to scan and manage multiple jurisdictions.
- Effective-Dated SUTA Rates
- Clients can now add effective start dates for SUTA rates.
- Selecting View on an existing state opens a slide out panel where clients can click Add Rate and enter the effective date.
- Wage Base Handling
- The wage base will automatically populate based on the effective date when available.
- For states with a variable wage base, the wage base can be manually entered by the client.
- SUTA Adjacent Rates
- Adjacent rates are managed within the same state line item.
- Rates will either default automatically or be editable when the state supports variable rates.
- Rate History Storage
- Clients can add multiple rates per state, all of which are stored in the system.
- For clarity, only the three most recent rates are displayed on the panel at any given time.
This redesign provides greater flexibility, clearer visibility, and better support for accurate unemployment tax calculations.
