Reporting: Pre-Filtering Specific Values Before Running Reports
Background: Large payroll datasets can make reporting slow and cumbersome. The Pay Run Summary report previously highlighted this issue, with long load times and inconsistent logic compared to other payroll reports. Clients also requested the ability to filter data before running reports, helping reduce processing time and avoid unnecessarily large file downloads.
What’s new
Building on the success of the rebuilt Pay Run Summary, we are now extending pre-filtering and performance improvements to additional reports. Users can now filter by:
- Employee ID
- Department
- Position
- Location
before running a report. These reports use the same Service as Pay Run Summary, providing:
- Standardized report logic for consistent results.
- Faster processing, even with large datasets.
- Smaller, more manageable file exports.
Benefits
- Reduces report run times for large payroll datasets.
- Prevents excessively large exports.
- Improves consistency and accuracy across payroll reporting.
- Streamlines workflow for routine reporting tasks.
General Ledger: Maintain mapping order from Excel
Background: General Ledger uploads were previously sorted using internal system logic, which often reordered accounts in ways that did not match the layout of the client’s source file. This made verification more difficult and sometimes caused confusion during reconciliation.
What’s New?
A new setting now allows clients to preserve the original mapping order from their uploaded GL file. When enabled, the system will maintain the file’s sequence exactly as provided, offering clearer alignment with client accounting structures and reducing the need for manual re-sorting.
Quarter End: SUTA recalculation and enhancements
Background: We recently enhanced the 941 page by adding FUTA and SUTA summary details. However, clients still lacked visibility into missing SUTA rate setup and had limited tools to address variances between calculated liabilities and Payroll processed amounts.
What’s New?
We have added several improvements to make quarter-end review and reconciliation easier:
Missing SUTA Rate Alerts
The 941 page now displays an error icon with a description identifying any states that are missing SUTA rates, helping clients resolve setup issues before closing the quarter.
Recalculate SUTA Liabilities
When there is a liability variance between our calculated totals and what was processed through Payroll, clients can now choose to recalculate SUTA liabilities.
- This recalculation includes our suggested corrections.
- The process can be completed before closing the quarter.
Updated Download File
The downloadable file now includes a multi-sheet Excel workbook containing:
- 941 Information
- SUTA Summary Information
- FUTA Summary Information
These enhancements improve transparency, simplify reconciliation, and provide clearer guidance during quarterly tax review.
